The PSS will apply to all ocean shipments originating in Asia and discharging in the US via the US East Coast, US West Coast, MLB, IPI or RIPI service. The charge will be applied based on the “departure date” at the origin location. It is important to mention that OD Global will pass this surcharge through to importers are we incur these charges from the ocean carrier. The PSS is not an ODFL surcharge, but is one that was recently announced by the TSA member carriers. Traditionally, the PSS is in effect through the fall, but is often adjusted in both duration and amount as market conditions dictate.
It is important to note, this potential increase is not an Old Dominion increase, but an adjustment coming from the members of the TSA to all importers, freight forwarders and NVOCC's.
The TSA member carriers are APL, CSCL, CMA-CGM, COSCO, EMC, Hanjin, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Marine, K-Line, MSC, Maersk, OOCL, Yang Ming and Zim.
