OD Global: TSA General Rate Increase Notification

July 15, 2009: Through the Trans-Pacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA), the member carriers are suggesting a General Rate Increase (GRI) effective for all containers gating into an overseas port on August 10, 2009 and destined to the USA from all Asia ports of loading in the amount of $400/20FT, $500/40FT, $565/40HC and $635/45FT.

The member carriers are indicating the need to increase their rates to sustain service and maintain the supply of goods from Asia to the US. It is important to note, the increases being suggested by the TSA could be adjusted or may not be entirely implemented by August 10, 2009. However, it would be prudent and suggested that all importers prepare for fluctuations in their import rates starting from early August.

It is important to note, this potential increase is not an Old Dominion increase, but an adjustment coming from the members of the TSA to all importers, freight forwarders and NVOCC's.

The member carriers of the TSA are APL, China Shipping, CMA CGM, COSCO Container Line, Evergreen, Hanjin, Hapag-Lloyd, K-Line, NYK Line, Yang Ming, OOCL, Hyundai Merchant Marine, MSC and Zim Line.
