OD Global: New Law Regarding Algerian Imports
Effective August 1, 2009 a new law went into effect in Algeria. Part of the law requires all import cargo into Algeria must be covered by a Letter of Credit issued by an Algerian bank. If a Letter of Credit is not in place it will be nearly impossible for Algerian consignee to clear customs, pick up or remove the cargo from the Algerian ports.
Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc must abide by Algerian law and cannot be responsible for any consequences or extra charges that may incur due to non- compliance. It is the responsibility of the shipper of record to insure that shipments are covered by Letters of Credit.
