New Old Dominion Freight Line® Mobile App Keeps Customers Informed in Real-Time About Shipments
New app also offers customers shipping quotes, access to online accounts
THOMASVILLE, North Carolina (May 17, 2013) – A new mobile app from Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. allows customers to more easily follow their shipments and connect with the company, no matter where they are.
With the new app, which launched today for the iPhone and iPad, customers can log into their online accounts; view bills of lading and shipment details; schedule pickups; stay current on service offerings; find the closest service center; and receive custom and generic shipping estimates.
The new app named OD4mobile, is an extension of odfl4me.com, Old Dominion’s popular online portal for customers. An identical mobile app is expected to launch during the third quarter for smart phones using the Android platform.
“We are always looking for how we can better serve our customers and use technology to offer the best possible experience,” said Chris Young, vice president, OD-Technology.
“This new app helps us accomplish that goal by providing customers with the same level of service they are accustomed to receiving on the phone or through the website,” Young said. “We believe our customers will not only find this new tool easy to use, but it will help them better manage their business.”
The company in recent years has increased its emphasis on enhancing and optimizing technology companywide – across its fleet, at its service centers and with customer-facing initiatives.
Last year, CIO magazine named Old Dominion a recipient of the 2012 CIO 100 Award, which honors excellence and achievement in IT. This was the fourth consecutive year the company has been honored with this prestigious award.
In 2013, the company was honored by Mastio & Company as the No. 1 National LTL carrier in the company’s 2012 Value and Loyalty Benchmarking Study. Old Dominion is the first LTL company to top the list three years in a row. In addition, Old Dominion was named one of America’s 100 Most Trustworthy Companies by Forbes magazine. Given annually, this recognition is awarded to publicly traded corporations that have consistently demonstrated transparent accounting practices, solid corporate governance and management.
Old Dominion was also recognized as NASSTRAC’s 2013 Carrier of the Year in the Multi-Regional LTL category. This shipper-driven award recognizes carriers that demonstrate excellence in performance and results.
