Old Dominion Hosts Final Stop of 75th Anniversary TourThomasville, NC – September 30, 2009 – Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. concluded its 27-city road tour at the company’s headquarters in Thomasville, NC. The tour began at the Miami Service Center on November 16, 2008, and featured a customized tractor trailer with interactive displays outlining the company’s history and 75 years of growth. The final stop coincided with the corporate office’s annual United Way fair and Employee Appreciation Day. The 75th Anniversary Tour was designed to help Old Dominion share and celebrate its rich history with its employees and customers, and support its recently launched advertising campaign, "Helping the World Keep Promises™", which reflects the company’s history of superior service to its customers, and its commitment to them for the next 75 years. A website (www.od75.com) tracked the truck’s progress as it crossed the country, and included video blogs and details about the rig, including construction photos that document the transformation of the trailer into this unique museum. The 75th Anniversary Tour Rig was powered by a 2009 Freightliner® DD-15™ Cascadia designed for greater fuel efficiency and cleaner emissions. Yesterday’s event kicked off with an employee appreciation luncheon, followed by the announcement of the United Way campaign total, awarding of prizes assocated with the campaign, and team-building activities for Old Dominion associates. Throughout the day, customers, employees and invited guests had the unique opportunity to experience the OD brand via interactive displays, historical artifacts and customized models. 75th anniversary tour festivities included food, a video library booth, photo booth, Wii video game, and remote control truck driving obstacle course.
