Thomasville, North Carolina (January 22, 2007) - Brian Stoddard, Vice President of Safety & Personnel for Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., announced the American Trucking Association (ATA) has named Old Dominion’s Larry Shelton as a Captain for the 2007-08 America’s Road Team. Shelton, a native of King, North Carolina is domiciled at the carrier’s Greensboro, North Carolina Service Center.

After several weeks of driving with the current Road Team, Shelton will hit the road solo to make public appearances at various organizations, representing the trucking industry by sharing information regarding highway safety and trucking industry regulations. To be nominated to serve as a Road Team Captain each candidate must be: employed by a member of the ATA, have an excellent safety record and demonstrate an ability to communicate a commitment to safety, professionalism and courtesy.
