Thomasville, North Carolina (August 30, 2005) - Chip Overbey, Vice President of National Accounts/Marketing & Education for Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. of Thomasville, North Carolina announced the LTL carrier’s decision to sponsor former Wake Forest University golfer Chad Wilfong on the PGA Sponsored Nationwide Tour.

As an amateur, Wilfong was a two-time North Carolina State High School Individual Champion, winning in 1997 and 1998 and was runner-up in 1999. He was a four-time All-Central Carolina Conference selection and a three-time All-State pick. Wilfong attended East Davidson High School. In 1999 he was awarded the Len Mattice Golf Scholarship to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and became a four year starter and letterman. Wilfong was the 2001 NC Men’s Amateur Champion; 2002 NC Men’s Amateur Runner-up; won All-Atlantic Coast Conference Honors in 2002 and 2003; won All-American Honors by the National NCAA Golf Coaches Association of America in 2002 and 2003 and was a Dean’s List Student Honors winner in his Junior and Senior years at Wake Forest.

Wilfong turned professional in July 2003. He finished 23rd in the 2003 Chattanooga Classic with rounds of 64-71-70 and 68 and in his first Hooters Tour event in 2003 at the Dothan (AL) Classic shot rounds of 73-72-67 and 69. In 2004 Wilfong played a full season on the Hooters Tour, making the cut in 12 of 17 starts. Wilfong also represented the Hooters Tour with multiple appearances on ESPN Radio. In 2005, Wilfong debuted on the Nationwide Tour with his best finish thus far in a tie for 9th place at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open. This was his first career appearance inside the top 10.
