Employment: Mechanic / Maintenance: Mechanic Technician Qualifications

Information

Needed for preventative maintenance and repairs to the corporate fleet. Entry level to full tech III positions available. Modern fleet with clean well organized shops. All company benefits, uniforms, safety & tool bonus program and tool purchase program, for entry level techs.

Age

Minimum 18.
Under age 18 may be considered for employment performing jobs such as office, yard work, clean up, etc. However, employees under 18 cannot operate machinery and/or power tools in some states.

Education

Graduate of high school or equivalent thereof preferred.

Experience

Primary factor should be relative to the job duties and whatever technical skill(s), if any, will be required.

Driving Record

FOR APPLICANTS WHO WILL BE REQUIRED TO OPERATE LICENSED COMPANY EQUIPMENT: No more than (4) moving motor vehicle violations or chargeable accidents, or combination thereof, within (3) years preceding the date of application with no more than (2) moving motor violations in the (12) months preceding the date of application.

Applicant will not be considered for employment if applicant has been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (DWI, DUI, DWAI) within (4) years preceding the date of application.

Applicant will not be considered for employment if applicant has been convicted of driving under the influence of a controlled substance (DRUGS) in his/her lifetime.

Applicant will not be considered for employment if applicant has been convicted (2) or more times of driving under the influence of alcohol (DWI, DUI, DWAI) in his/her lifetime.

Applicant will not be considered for employment if applicant has been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (DWI, DUI, DWAI) in an accident related incident in his/her lifetime.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform all essential job functions/requirements as outlined on the "Job Description".

Conviction Record

No criminal conviction (excluding convictions of motor vehicle violations) within the (3) year period immediately preceding application date.

No felony, theft, or larceny conviction within the applicant's lifetime. (Consideration may be given to an applicant whose conviction occurred while under 21 yrs. of age provided employment is first approved by the Vice President of Safety & Personnel.

In the event the applicant has had a conviction which would disqualify him/her under this section, but the conviction is not discovered until after he/she has been hired, his/her application for employment shall be reconsidered as if he/she had applied for employment after Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. had knowledge of such convictions.

Past Work Record

Must be acceptable from company standpoint with regard to quality of work, cooperation with others, and safety habits (as ascertained from the telephone and written reference checks).

Disclosure

Misrepresentation or omission of information or facts may result in rejection or dismissal of employment. Further, any misrepresentation or omission of information or facts discovered after employment may result in termination of employment not withstanding the fact that providing such information at time of application would not have disqualified the applicant for employment.
