Job Summary
The Corporate Manager- Logistics is the focal point of our fully deployed supply chain offering, on-site at a large beverage manufacturer and distributor located in North Atlanta, Georgia. This individual will evaluate, develop and lead in the implementation of OD Business Solutions logistics initiatives for our customer.
Job Duties
The Corporate Manager – Logistics will be domiciled at our customer’s office location on Windy Ridge Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia and will report directly to the Director of Logistics located in Thomasville, NC.
Required Skills
The Corporate Manager – Logistics will be responsible for the following duties:
- Full accountability for TMS implementation (primarily including EDI freight invoicing) for our customer in Atlanta.
- Maintain all business metrics according to specific customer requirements.
- Transportation procurement and liaison to the motor freight, airfreight, and courier industries on behalf of OD Business Solutions.
- Monitor carrier performance and handle selection based on the changing needs of each Point-of-Sale (POS) vendor and respective consignee location.
- Oversee the freight invoice auditing function to ensure correct freight charges to our customer.
- Contact carriers, as necessary, when freight charges need to be corrected.
- Monitoring of POS transportation costs and recording of freight dollars spent.
- Performing due diligence on all transportation providers to our customer, assuring proper insurance and operating authority for services provided.
- Provide our customer with competitive industry benchmarks to assure that discounts are market reasonable.
- Utilize TMS to provide monthly results reports relative to freight expenses.
- Arrange transportation of all POS goods and materials to/from various facilities throughout all of the United States and Canada.
- Maintain copies and provide explanation for any freight debits/credits issued to our customer’s vendors and/or carriers.
- Conduct meetings with carrier representatives to monitor continuous improvement.
- Facilitate monthly meetings with our customer to report findings on each month’s routine expenses.
Accountabilities
The Corporate Manager – Logistics must be able to operate in a fast-paced, innovative environment while being comfortable re-prioritizing workload to support urgent requests. Experience with Truckload & LTL transportation management, shipping, receiving, picking, inventory control, safety, quality control, and other related supply chain service requirements preferred. Solid written and verbal skills are essential. This individual must be a team player and work well in a diverse group to accomplish complex tasks.
Responsibilities include supply chain analysis (e.g., what-if scenario modeling, metrics production/development, and process documentation), the ability to provide concise project updates and detailed plans for meeting savings goals is imperative.
Job specifications/ requirements
- Minimum Education – High School diploma
- Preferred Education – Bachelors Degree in Business, Management or Logistics
- Excellent communication skills
- Preferred Experience – Minimum 1-3 years of experience in transportation, logistics or supply chain
- Must have previous hands-on experience operating Transportation Management Systems
- Must have complete MS Office package experience
- Self motivated
- Some travel expected (~10%)
