Employment: Management/Professional: Assistant Manager of Sales and Service

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., a major LTL carrier, has an exciting position available for an individual who is highly motivated, dedicated and able to lead others in all phases of our operation. This person oversees and is directly involved in all phases of the service center operation. To join our team, you must be “hands-on” and energetic.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Direct and coordinate activities of service center employees to provide cost effective, timely, quality service to customers. Investigate customer complaints and resolve problems. Interview, select, train, and assign new personnel. Enforce compliance of all company policies and procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations. Review and analyze expenditure, financial and operations reports to determine requirements for increasing profits and improving processes. Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as necessary.

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

• At least 5 years previous LTL operations management experience strongly preferred!
• Exceptional people and communication skills
• Motivational and organizational skills
• Experience with employee training, coaching, and progressive discipline counseling
• Scheduling
• Experience managing all aspects of LTL operations: Dock, City, Line Haul and Office
• Prepare and implement action plans to ensure planned productivity and service goals are achieved
• Possess a general knowledge of business processes such as profit and loss, profit margins, accounting, and other related principles
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
• Knowledge of safe lifting techniques
• Knowledge of proper loading/unloading techniques
• Computer literate (Word, Excel, Email)
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Goal/growth oriented
• Record keeping and filing
