How does OD's moving service work?

It's easy. Simply get a quote here using the helpful Estimator to determine approximately how much space you need on our trailer. Then book your move online in a few easy clicks. We'll drop off an OD Moving trailer at your current location, you pack and load yourself within 3 days, then call us to come pick up the trailer and we will transport your belongings to your destination. Upon arrival at your destination, we'll leave the trailer for 3 days to allow you to unload. Just call us when you're done unloading and we'll come pick up the trailer.

Will my moving price ever change?

OD's quote to you is based on the information you enter into our estimate. The more accurate the information, the more accurate the price quote. However since your final prices is based on the linear feet used, you only pay for the space on the trailer you actually use, so your actual cost may vary slightly from the initial estimate. What types of moves does OD Moving Services offer?

Unlike some moving services companies, we offer moving services either across town, across the country, or anyplace in between.

What payment options do I have?

When you book your reservation, you'll be asked to provide a credit card number. After confirmation of the total linear feet used, your credit card will be charged. We also accept money orders and cashiers' checks, payable at the time your shipment is delivered to the final destination.

Do you require a deposit?

No deposit is required. Your reservation is held via the credit card you provide at the time of booking.

What if I need to make changes to my reservation?

If you need to change your reservation date, you may do so free of charge. If it is necessary to cancel your reservation, some fees may apply. You may change your reservation date free of charge by updating your quote information here, or call us at 877-358-6928. However, any cancellation made within 24 hours of your move will result in a cancellation fee of $150, charged to your credit card. If your move is more than one week away, there will be no charge. If the cancellation occurs within one week of the move, there will be a $50 charge. If it is on the day of the move, there will be a $150 charge.

Are my goods insured against loss, damage, or theft?

OD has one of the lowest claims ratio in the industry. We do not offer additional insurance, but you should check with your homeowner's insurance provider first. However, if you have a claim you may call our Claims Line toll-free at 1-800-432-6335 or email us at claims@odfl.com. Since you pack and load your belongings, which are secured behind our supplied bulkhead/security divider, OD is only responsible for loss or damage caused by our negligence. We are not responsible for damage caused by improper packing or loading.

What is a Reference Number?

When you receive a quote for moving your belongings with OD, you will receive a Reference Number which you can use to retrieve your moving quote, view your quote online, or make changes to your quote. When you complete the quick estimate, you will receive an email confirming your quote which includes a Reference Number. Please keep the Reference Number handy. If you lose your Reference Number, call us at 877-358-6928 and one of our customer service representatives will help you retrieve it.

What is a Bill of Lading ("BOL")?

Quite simply, it is a contract between OD and you, the customer, for the transportation of your belongings; it also serves as a receipt issued by OD Household Services to you for the goods received for transportation. Be sure to read your BOL carefully.

What do I need to know about packing and loading?

You pack your belongings, load them onto our trailer, and we do the driving. For a handy list of moving tips, click here.

What is a linear foot?

A linear foot is quite simply, one foot (12 inches) in length. For every linear foot, you have the full width of the trailer (8 feet) and full height (9 feet) of space for loading. Each of our trailers holds approximately 2000 cubic feet-enough for the average 3-4 bedroom home. See our handy Estimator to determine how much trailer space you'll need.

What types of items are prohibited from being loaded on the trailer?

No dangerous items such as poisons, noxious materials, flammable liquids, corrosive chemicals, firearms, pets, or perishable items should be loaded on the OD trailer. Check this list for more.

Does OD offer labor services to help me pack and load?

OD does not offer labor services, but we can refer you to a third party company who can help with packing and loading labor. Click here for our recommended labor services partners. If you need labor services, contact them directly and all billing arrangements for labor are invoiced separately, between you and the third party.
